LAKOTA OPTIMISTS SELECT LAKOTA WEST TEENS OF THE MONTH

The Lakota Optimist Club has selected a matching set of young men to represent Lakota West as Teens of the Month.  Eric and Adam Schwartz, who are identical twins, were tabbed as junior teen honorees for the months of September and October respectively.  The proud parents of these two young men are Honey and Dave Dunaway of West Chester.

Eric's school activities include participation in the GMC Leadership Committee, Peer Counseling, the Interact Organization, Mu Alpha Theta math honorary, Symphonic Winds as the Oboe Section Leader and in the Lakota West Firebird Marching Band.  Eric's academic accomplishments currently place him ranked # 2 in his class with a 4.6 GPA.

His church and community activities find him volunteering his talents to the Ronald McDonald House, RASKALS, Walnut Hills Soup Kitchen, the Temple Youth Group, the Wellspring Retirement Center and the Cedar Village Retirement Home.  Eric also serves on the advisory board for the Cincinnati Youth Orchestra and has participated in the All State Orchestra.  In his spare time, Eric finds time to serve as a math tutor for fellow students.

Playing the Oboe and Alto Saxophone are meaningful hobbies that provide a great deal of satisfaction.  Eric also enjoys listening to the Cincinnati Symphony and collecting baseball cards.

Adam's school activities include varsity football, being a percussion leader in the band, Peer Counseling, Mu Alpha Theta, the GMC Leadership committee and the Interact club.  Like his brother, Adam is equally accomplished in the classroom.  His current class rank is #3 with a GPA of 4.51.  Given all the activities and interests of both these young men, it is a credit to them both that they cans till maintain such high academic efforts.

Community and church involvement find Adam participating in RASKALS, Bikur Cholim Community Service Class, Ronald McDonald House, Cedar Village Retirement Center, Wellspring Retirement Center, Temple Youth Group and the Walnut Hills soup Kitchen.   Adam and Eric both have donated a great deal of their time and talents to the community and their church. For the past two years, Adam has served a tutor for fellow students.  It is obvious that Adam and Eric have "teamed up" to double their positive impact.  Plus, it probably saves on transportation!

Adam's hobbies include sports, collecting baseball cards and key chains.  For additional excitement, he loves to umpire youth baseball!  The Lakota Optimists are very proud to honor the outstanding efforts and accomplishments of Eric and Adam Schwartz.   Recognizing them as Lakota West Teens of the Month is a distinct pleasure.  More information about the Lakota Optimist Club can be found on the internet at www.homestead.com/lakotaoptimists.
