'Run for Youth'

Lakota Elementary School Competitions

There are several levels of competition between the Lakota Elementary schools.  These are:

Participation Goal:  Every Lakota Elementary school has the goal of having at least 20 students participate in the 'Run for Youth'.  If the school reaches this goal, they are rewarded with a donation to the school. 

Participation Competition:  The Three Lakota Elementary Schools with the highest percentage of their students participating in the 'Run' are rewarded with additional money to be spent in their physical education departments.  For the 2012 'Run', the school with the highest percentage of their students participating will be presented with a check for $300.00.  The second place school will receive $200.00 and the third place school will get $150.00.

Running Competition:  The schools also compete in a cross country style race.  The first five boy finishers from a school are considered the school's male team and the first five girl finishers are considered the female team.  The teams' scores are calculated using the same methods as high school cross country races.
